2012

Charlotte, North Carolina (1 February 2012) - Even though it is the 'off-season' for most of motorsport, Kevin and Evan York of YORK Motorsport are hard at work formulating racing plans for 2012.

With memories of a diverse and competitive 2011, Kevin and Evan York are well into the planning stages for an equally fun and interesting 2012 racing season.

"Already, we've had several positive meetings regarding our hopes and desires for 2012", stated Kevin recently at the Charlotte Racer's Expo. "There is interest from some of our previous partners in continuing our relationships for the future. Too, we've had inquiries from new, potential partners that we have welcomed. As to where I or Evan will be racing exactly, that is still up in the air. We're looking at all our options, dirt or asphalt, circle track and sports car racing."

When asked what he'd like to do most, Evan replied: "I'm most happy in a competitive racing car. If I've got a race car - whether it's on dirt or asphalt - I'm good to go! Seriously, I was very fortunate to work with some great teams last year. The Dirt Track Racing School was a first-class team to be with for my US Legends Dirt Modified program. West Coast Touring Cars for my sports car sprint and endurance racing programs were great fun to be with. They have great history with my dad, so it was fun to join them. To do join both teams again in 2012 would be just fine. Additionally, we are looking at other programs too..."

One thing that YORK Motorsport fans have been active in supporting in the opening months of 2012, is Evan's push to become a winner in Federal Mogul's, Search For A Champion contest. Evan has the possibility of winning significant financial backing from Champion Parts should his video win.
ANOTHER PODIUM FINISH FOR EVAN YORK IN US LEGENDS MODIFIED RACING

York starts season’s point championship in third position

CHARLOTTE, NC (June 6, 2011) – After a great debut run to a podium finish at the recently-held inaugural US Legends Modified race at East Lincoln Speedway in Stanley, North Carolina, Evan York, of YORK Motorsport returned to the famed clay track for the first race of the season-long track championship.

“I had to put our previous, good results behind us,” explained Evan. “We were certainly happy to have a good finish in the inaugural race on the 24th of May. However, it’s a new race and a new tact from here on out as we’re racing for wins – and points. The heat race was a bit rough-and-tumble, with another car getting into my rear nerf bar pretty hard. The Dirt Track Racing School Race Team crew did a great job getting it repaired. I started the Main race in sixth position, so I knew I’d be right in the thick of things! Overall it was a good race. I fought hard with the leaders and am pleased to have finished on the podium again, in P3.”

Winning the race was Evan’s teammate, Mark C. Lowrey. Finishing second was dirt-racing legend and Northeast DIRTcar Modified Champion and Hall of Fame Inductee, Tommy Corellis.

Joining Evan for this event as Primary Associate Partner was Victory Lane Indoor Karting. Remaining on board as an Associate Partner was GoEnzo.com, the promotional website of NY Time’s bestselling author, Garth Stein’s “Racing In The Rain: My Life As A Dog”.

YORK Motorsport is working diligently to secure future funding and partnerships that will allow Evan to complete the entire US Legends Modified 2011 Championship at East Lincoln Speedway.

CHARLOTTE, NC (June 2, 2011) – After a great debut run to a podium finish at the recently-held inaugural US Legends Modified race at East Lincoln Speedway in Stanley, North Carolina, Evan York, of YORK Motorsport will be returning to the competitive clay track.

“I had such fun, I just had to come back,” enthused Evan. “We were so pleased to have Garth Stein’s, “Racing In The Rain: My Life As A Dog” on our car! Now, with Victory Lane Karting joining us for the next race, I’m even more pumped to do well.
Evan York Makes Strong Debut At Inaugural US Legends Modified Race

Evan York, of YORK Motorsport, made a sensational dirt track debut at East Lincoln Speedway’s inaugural race event for the brand new US Legends Modified dirt racing car.

After a very strong second-place finish in his Heat race, Evan showed remarkable poise and driving skill during the Main race. Running as high as second place and challenging for the lead at times, Evan crossed under the checkered flag in third position during a very tightly contested race.

Speaking directly after the race, Evan said,
“That was a lot of fun. I had some awesome battles. That was some of the best racing I've had in a long time. I can't thank Garth Stein and Enzo enough for supporting Dad and I to run the inaugural race in the U.S. Legends Modified dirt cars at East Lincoln Speedway.“

Shawn Parker, team owner of the Dirt Track Racing School race team said:
“It was great working with Kevin and Evan York of YORK Motorsport for the the inaugural US Legends Dirt Modified race. They both transitioned really well from sports car, endurance road racing and go-karting to the dirt track. Our entire Dirt Track Racing School team was very impressed. Evan especially stood out with his car control skills and race craft. If Evan decides to run more dirt races, I expect that he will be contending for wins whenever he hits the track.”

YORK Motorsport are currently working on plans that will see Evan compete in the next round of the US Legends Modified race series at East Lincoln Speedway on 4 June 2011.

YORK MOTORSPORT BRING ENZO OF ‘RACING IN THE RAIN’ TO THE DIRT TRACK

GoEnzo.com to be seen on Yorks’ US Legends Modified racecars during inaugural event.

“That which you manifest is before you.” - Enzo the dog

When Kevin and Evan York debut in a new racecar – the US Legends Modified - on a new track, and in a new type of racing for them, they’ll have a unique marketing partner at their side.

That partner will be old friend, Enzo the dog from author Garth Stein’s New York Times bestseller, “The Art of Racing in the Rain”.

While Enzo - the lovable mutt who longs to race cars and learn lots about life from his owner, Denny - continues to tell his story to a mostly adult audience, he now is sharing his tale with younger readers too.

Recently released, “Racing In The Rain: My Life As A Dog”, is now available in an edition for junior readers.

Perennial sports car, endurance road racer Kevin (dad) and kart racing ace (and up-and-coming road racer in his own right), Evan (son) will take to a very different type of motorsport in an effort to expand their variety of experience – and have FUN!

On Tuesday, 24 May 2011, Kevin and Evan will both compete in the inaugural race for the US Legends Modifieds at East Lincoln Speedway in Stanley, North Carolina.

The new U. S. Legends Modified dirt car, developed by Ray Evernham in conjunction with SMI and U.S. Legend Cars International, is designed for power, performance, and affordability. Evernham has overseen the design, fabrication and testing of the new chassis, engine and body style for the car. The cars are being manufactured at the U.S. Legend Cars International factory in Harrisburg, NC and sold through the current dealer network. The series will initially run at East Lincoln Speedway in Stanley, NC, which is owned by Evernham, and then expand to other top dirt tracks around the country.

“Evan and I have both tested the new US Legends Modified car a few times now,” noted Kevin. “We are very pleased to announce not only our partnership with Garth’s new adaptation of his great book, but that we’ll be driving cars prepared by Shawn Parker’s The Dirt Track School racing team. While many things are new to both Evan and I in this type of racing, we are intent on showing Enzo off to a new audience and have big fun while we do it!”

Driving. Sweating. Researching. Where Academics Meets Driving And Physiology

As Evan nears the final stages of his high school graduation project, let's check in with his latest research.

As seen on Evan's Facebook page:

Just finished my last race for my research project. I only lost 2 lbs. of sweat this time...but I'm still going to feel it in the morning. Thanks to FO and EB at Victory Lane Indoor Karting for letting me race at their facility and JL at PitFit Training for his advice and use of equipment! Good fun! Now I have to work on the not-so-fun part of the project.

Tuesday, June 22nd will mark the beginning of Evan's Summer 2010 time at VIRginia International Raceway's Camp Motorsport.

His first experience there was as a camper in 2007.

That time was so enjoyable, he's returned for three years in a row now as an employee of the Camp.

This season the Camp has created a position specifically for Evan and as such he'll be part of the instructional staff.

"Being at VIRginia International Raceway as a staff member of Camp Motorsport is a great way to spend my summer time!" enthused Evan. "Especially since it involves driving and racing education. I'm happy that the Camp has asked me to be an instructor this year; with my experience I'll be able to offer a lot of insight to the kids coming to Camp this year."

The event will begin on Sunday, May 30th at ten AM and conclude twenty-four fun - and fast-paced - hours later at ten AM on Monday, May 31st!

One of the premier endurance karting events in North America, Victory Lane Indoor Karting will show the competitors a few new twists and turns, thanks to a reconfigured track and new generation Sodikart RX-7 racing karts.

Past events were marked by passes to win with less than 45 minutes remaining, and finished with just 11 seconds separating the winning team from second place.

Home track advantage will be minimized during the 24 Hours of Charlotte, as all the karts are identical and assigned randomly. Additionally, kart equality will be maximized as the teams will switch karts at each fuel stop.

Having recently completed a successful test in an open-wheel sprint car, Evan York was asked by Shawn Parker - owner of the Dirt Track Racing School team - to return and test a dirt late model race car.

Under the guidance of chief instructor Mark Lowrey, Evan learned the nuances of negotiating a red-clay oval in a large, V8 powered stock car - a radical departure from the nimble go-kart and formula cars he is used to racing on asphalt road courses!

On whole, the day was very constructive and positive.
