About Evan...in his own words!

Well my name is Evan York. I am a karter and I have been competing since I was seven years old. I have been around racing for as long as I can remember. My dad is a professional racecar driver in the Grand-Am Koni Challenge Series and also a Speed Secrets driver coach. I have been going to races with him since I was a baby. Now at the age of 15, I seek to try to go nationally in sprint karting. I am a student/athlete and my focus in school is also very important to me. I want to be a motorsport engineer as well as making a living off of racing. Racing is a part of me and a part of my life and I have goals to one day become world champion.

Some answered questions by Evan:

Why do you like this sport?
Well Aryton Senna says it best, "I continuously go further and further learning about my own limitations, my body limitation, psychological limitations. It's a way of life for me." I love the feeling of the limit...the adrenaline...and the pure concentration it takes to win. I feel like there is a never ending limit, and you reach a point where you only want to go further and further. But the most important thing to me is making sure I have fun. No matter where I may finish...as long as I feel that I did the best I could possibly do, I did my job, and have a ton of fun...that's a weekends well spent money.

What inspires you to compete?
My dad, He was the one to introduce me to the sport and teach me how to be an all around motorsport athlete on and off the track. He taught me the art of racing, the determination and concentration it takes to win.

Why do you compete?
I love competition. Not only to try to do whatever it takes to win...but also learn from experiences you have with others on the track. I love to be where the competition is intense and everyone is going for the win. It just makes the win that much more special when you get it.

Experience Summary
I compete as often as I can. When I started karting I would do enduros often and I never once finished off the podium (in addition to winning a few). I also have recently been racing regionally and have won and podiumed several races.
