WCTC Signs Kevin York for Northern Quest Casino Grand Prix
Pacific Northwest sportscar racing team, West Coast Touring Cars taps Kevin York to race two of its cars in the Northern Quest Casino Grand Prix.
Held at Spokane County Raceway - likely during seasonally hot summer weather - the race should prove to be as challenging as any.
"I'm very pleased that Rob Dunn of West Coast Touring Cars has invited us to drive his racing cars once again. I'll be driving not only the Dodge ACR that I've raced many times before, I'll also be racing a PRO3 BMW in the special BMW Pro Challenge race on the Saturday. The racing in Conference is very competitive and I enjoy that. Also, Spokane County Raceway is one of my favorite road-racing courses in the Northwest!" noted York.
The double-race weekend - held July 17-19 - will be rounds five and six of a twelve-round series that stretches from April to October. The series is sanctioned by the International Conference of Sports Car Clubs (ICSCC). The ICSCC was founded in 1957 and is the largest sports car racing sanctioning body in the Pacific Northwest. It consists of five member and five affiliate clubs in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. www.icscc.com
Spokane County Motorsports Park features a 2.5 mile road course. It consists of the longest straight in the Northwest, some challenging medium-speed corners with elevation change, and some tight technical segments. The pavement is very smooth, and consistent, making it a great facility for motorsport. Among drivers, Spokane County Raceway is routinely ranked a favorite. www.spokanecountyraceway.com
The PRO-3 class was introduced in 2003 and now is the fastest growing class of race cars in ICSCC. The class is based on the rugged and readily available BMW E30 325i that was manufactured for the North American market between 1987 and 1991.
